Having ventured out as a strategic communications specialist in 2021, Mitch has been coordinating significant PR and communications activities for Victoria’s home of sports and live entertainment. Working with senior state government partners, precinct stakeholders and world class creative agencies, he is focused on cementing and enhancing his client’s local and international reputation.

Mitch is the current secretary and a board member of IABC Victoria (International Association of Business Communicators).

2014-2021

Over the course his time at GMCT, Mitch helped drive the organisation towards a deeper understanding of its purpose and values through organisational storytelling. He was responsible for media, PR, brand stewardship, marketing and communications.

He led a number of key projects, including a comprehensive, research-based brand rejuvenation program, the launch of a new website and intranet, and the development of a sector leading history and heritage hub. He also helped lead the organisation on its transformation journey from sales-driven, revenue-focussed service delivery, towards a more sustainable community service model built on genuine, lasting, intergenerational connections.

Australian Prime Ministers Centre Scholar

2014

As an Australian Prime Ministers Centre Scholar, Mitch completed a research residency at The Museum of Australian Democracy at Old Parliament House in Canberra. He researched poetry written by world leaders from Mao Zedong to Malcolm Turnbull, and published his findings in The Australian Poetry Journal. During the residency he ran seminars and workshops at Old Parliament House, promoted his research on ABC RN’s Books and Arts, and gave a keynote address to the National Roundtable of Prime Ministerial Collecting Agencies at Curtin University.
